And yes influence and skill are totally different things-which is why I vote for Elvis.
no one said Kiss were rock..

to me (this might sound funny) kiss were hair metal, and glam rock mixed into one.. they weren;t in it for the fans for the music.. they have said in interviews that they thought being in a rock band would get them chicks, and all the drugs, and they were right.. they all admit to not being that great at what a band is suppose to do.. but like Alice Cooper there a good stage band.. they were fun adn kept up with the times.. (but i personally like alice cooper i there there/he's good.. and a awesome writer)

Son House, he played a huge role on Robert Johnson's playing, and by doing so he has played a huge role in all blues musicians.

Or I could be serious and say Billy Corgan.

this could go on for a while, causing problems...As there is no one idividual musican/artist that be classed as most inflential. You gotta look at it from genre, individually (who people think), talent (musically and vocal) and also which era they were around, like Mozart completly turned music on its head, but the same can be said about: Dylan, Cash, Cobain, Dimebag, Randy Rhodes, The Who, Sting, Paul Weller etc etc
