Worst Support Acts You`ve Ever Seen

4 that stick out for me

Unique (Supporting The Stranglers)

Some sh*tty local band who reformed 'due to popular demand' for this once in a lifetime opportunity of supporting a has been punk band.Take 2 guys in Tina Turner wigs behind a couple of synths , one fat bald guy in a smock with white face paint that made him look like the child catcher in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang playing the most 80s sounding music you`ve ever heard. They played for half an hour , it felt like 3 hours. The only song I remember was called something like 'Little Man' that seemed to be about his penis.

Blind Melon (Supporting Guns n Roses)

5 planks of wood takes to the stage for half an hour
Nobody notices

Now It`s Overhead (Supporting REM)

Some sh*tty Saddle Creek band who`s only reason for being there seemed to be because they were from Stipes hometown.45 minutes spent listening to a band attempting to get into the Guinness book of records under ' the most dullest indiest cliched crap band in the world' entry

Hard Fi (Supporting Graham Coxon)

Never before have I seen a band get so little attention from a crowd. The only song that got any sort of reaction was 'Living For The Weekend'. I`m guessing it`s because their lead singer said 'This is our last one for tonight' before it was played.

Brunettes.. the supported The Shins.
They weren't the worst ever, but very repatative i thought

Levithan 02-23-2006 08:39 AM

Cathederal...man they were lame

explosions-in-my-pants 02-23-2006 08:46 AM

Levithan 02-23-2006 08:47 AM

1990/91 not sure :D

IndiElectronica 02-23-2006 09:22 AM

bah... too many to count!! last REALLY bad one was Electric Wizard who opened for Mogwai... First off, they were metal. Now, that's not my kind of thing i admit... but they followed every cliche in the book (most notably only have one song (that they replayed 7 different ways), 4 chords and no talent.

Truely dismal band...

littleknowitall 02-24-2006 06:37 AM

funeral for a friend supporting iron maiden, just wasnt going to end well.

judas_priest 02-24-2006 06:47 AM

^ I want to see Maiden sooo much. I hear they're touring Europe after they release their next album.
Where did you see them?

littleknowitall 02-24-2006 06:54 AM

cardiff arena, nowhere special, wasn't as great as i'd hoped, my mate fainted and i lost my shoe and i didn't have any money for drugs.

littleknowitall 02-24-2006 06:54 AM

They don't seem to come to Scotland these days. I'm determined to see them though.
Lol- was the mosh pit crazy or something?

ArtistInTheAmbulance 02-24-2006 12:27 PM

FARSE.

Or Overkill. They were pretty poor live too...

we got to that point where your not in the front but your jammed right in, the guy infront of us was built like a cube so we decided to try and make friends in the hope if something did kick off we'd be alright, he beat up some big dude behind me but my mate still fainted from the heat. all in all was still great though.

Aww... I like Electric Wizard.

I wouldn't mind if they opened for Mogwai when I go see 'em.

Merkaba 02-27-2006 04:35 PM

Indielectronica is obviously kidding *hopeful* :(

I love Electric Wizard.

Urban Hat€monger ? 07-02-2008 11:32 AM

Since us mods are supposed to be bumping old threads that can actually lead to some discussion i'm going to bump this one.

Away you go.........

I'll also add The View supporting Primal Scream for this.

Couldn't understand a bloody word the singer was saying & every single song sounded the same.

Piss Me Off 07-02-2008 11:43 AM

I think i may go with Chicks On Speed, who opened for RHCP. It was all day-glo and no tunes. Got bottled off by many irate teenagers.

Calvin Harris opening for Faithless. Dull retro 80's electro pop made by some guy in his bedroom. Feck off!

Genital Deformities opening for Venom. They were both crap, I was young and bored but GD were even more amateurish than Venom. That's saying something.

Warrior Soul opening for Metallica. Lars was quoted as saying they were the next big thing in metal. Yeah-scrap!

Urban Hat€monger ? 07-03-2008 12:56 PM

Warrior Soul had a couple of good tunes. It was through their cover of Interzone I discovered Joy Division.

I have their first couple of albums buried away somewhere.
