Unhappy MP3.com to cease operations

Quote:
Please be advised that on Tuesday, December 2, 2003 at 12:00 PM PST the MP3.com website will no longer be accessible in its current form. Please remember to update or remove all links and references to the URL www.mp3.com. Additionally if you would like a historical record of your page, we recommend that you capture screen shots of the page as well as your artist statistics pages since they will no longer be available once the site goes offline.
This news is a little old, but CNET is buying MP3.com and basically taking it down. I wonder what they're going to do with the domain name.

well being in a band myself I think its sheisty that people get free MP3s.. I mean I know how much freakin work goes into making a CD and It's definately a lot more than you pay but we do it because we love it. See the thing is though bands that put out a CD with one well recorded song a then 10 or 12 filler songs trying to sell it for 15+ bucks.. thats a different story but I mean paying 10 bucks or so for a good CD that has a lot of time and effort put into it and they pour their soul into this music they perform and write.. isn't that enough to pay their living, because that is their life and job yeah... thats all I have to say for now lol

Yeah, but MP3.com was a place where aspiring artists could post their album for download, but get money back in return. MP3.com did not promote piracy at all. If they had they would have been gone a long time ago.

You are saying 10 bucks is not good for a cd, because of all the hard work, but just think if only a 100 people buy it you already have 1000 dollars.

Here's a thought; let's stop labeling music and fighting over what genre a certain band is, and start listening to whatever pleases our ears no matter what anyone thinks of it! ;)

Artists only get between 50 cents and a dollar per CD sold. But if you go to their concert that costs 15 dollars they make about 90% of it.
