One of the finest melody-makers of the modern period, Billie Joe may not shred but he does know how to make a decent song, and seasons alot of his later works with a diverse background of music. Lets be thnkful he didn't anchor on to the cancer that is the punk ethos, in which punk bands/kids/critics all play king of the mountain with how punk they are. No better than the jocks you "rage against".

People all over are like "man greenday blows", no ones rating them highly, you know whos overrated? Radiohead, and until Q magazine burns away forever, they always will be.
though i agree that alongside rivers cuomo armstrong is perhaps the finest "melody maker" of the 90's, what are you on about? the reason a lot of people "rage against" green day is simply due to the fact their all over the TV, radio and magazines. so in regards to the media hullabaloo that surrounds this band, they are overrated seeings as they've made at best 3 good (not outstanding) albums.

Yeah you wouldn't, but ever 10 year olds don't want to be called "kid" but they are. Im 23 and I still get called kid, don't be so sensitive, I wasn't directed it toward you, that was a reference to the "kids" he pointed out. im sure you'd agree that 12 year olds are kids, right?

And let me remind you, because you can't read, that not liking a band has nothing to do with them being overrated. You get that right? Im not sure you do, because I was commenting on why Green Day isn't as bad as these boards are making them out to be, and you took it as a personal insult and responded with what is arguably a non-sequiter.

I wasn't seriously offended by the kid thing- I was only joking, and yeah, I'd agree that 12 year olds are kids.
I didn't take it as a personal insult either, and it's not just that I don't like the band, I also think they're over-rated. Therefore what I'm saying is logical, and not a non-sequitur.
Where I'm from, everyone goes on about Greenday, and I just don't think they deserve that amount of praise, that's all.

i also think Greenday is overrated... i don't think there about making music thats meanignful and "punk" anymore.. i think there just keeping up with the times, so they will continue to gain fans, they don't even care if they lost there "punk" fans as long as there turning more and more pop there going to have more and more "kids" become fans, more parents think there alright for there kids to listen to them now, other then when they had more of a "punk" sound.

i'm 18 and i;m not quite sure when this band came out.. but i going to say when i was around 9 or 10 maybe even younger, anyways i never liked these guys.. i thought they were overrated when they came out then too. i was never a fan and to me there just another band making sure there always on top....

The best thing for me is when they won an award and they said "well at least we know theres still a place for rock"...(something along those lines)

Haha to whoever said Radiohead are overrated.
Sometimes the reason a band is "rated" so highly is because they deserve it.
Every member of Radiohead is extremely talented at their instrument, as well as the fact that most of them can play all of the other instruments.
Thom is an amzing songwriter, they are expirimental, but they still sound tight, they don't stray, it doesn''t go off in a million directions leaving you confused. They are a great band, and I haven't seen them rated all that highly.

Most people have heard the name radiohead, but couldn't name any songs.
And if they can name a song the one that they name wilil be Creep
