Caught Death Grips in Vancouver on Saturday, Commodore Ballroom, bizzare show. No opening act, they just played Fashion Week in its entirety over the speakers before their set. The audience was absolutely feral, more aggressive than the vast majority of metal shows I've been to. Outrageously primal atmosphere, dark red stage lighting only for the entire hour and a half set, breath and smoke sifting around Ride's skeletal silhouette as he frantically paces back and forth, stirring the audience like a viscous mob. The stage straight up looked like the gates of Hell. Terrifying.
Their performance was fantastic, all three of them were on point, maximum energy and effort.

Well, it's official. I have a new favorite band.
Creepoid - Cemetery High Rise Slum Saw Creepoid last night at their album release show. Blown away would be an understatement. I'm going to go see them Saturday as well. They're playing an acoustic set at Vintage Vinyl in Fords, NJ. I can't get over how amazing they were. It's like a time machine where I'm transported back to the 90s with romantic shoegazey fuzz rock. I love them so much. |

hundred waters were god damn amazing again. somehow better than before. they dance remixed Caverns which was awesome, and would just go on tangents of mashing their instruments as loud as they could during the set. it was amazing. blew me away. plus the church is just a great venue. cant wait to see godspeed in it. son lux wasn't that great but w/e. didn't really like the guys voice. it was like muse if they were electronic. loscil was great as expected. just an entrancing show. didn't even realize it was over until he was off stage. ben frost probably blew my eardrums in a good way. everything was shaking. couldn't walk straight. 100% recommend seeing this guy live it was incredible atmosphere. solid start to the festival, probably already better than last years. |
