Very energetic and powerful performance. Played a mixture of songs from Avery Island and ITAOTS as well as a couple B-sides including Engine, which they finished on.

Guy with the saw sits front and center and looks like he's 15 years younger than the rest of the band.
The horn player looks like Santa Claus and Jeff Mangum looks like Forest Gump did when he went running for 2 years.

They still sound as good as they did on their original albums though. Very passionate and emotionally driven, especially on Two Headed Boy Part II which Jeff performed on his own as the rest of the band left the stage.

Support act was one of the guys from Frightened Rabbit. He was sh*t.

A lot of beards and glasses in the crowd, but a very enthusiastic and lively audience. Don't think I've ever sweated more at a concert. Great set, and would definitely recommend catching them, as they have a reputation as one of the best live acts, if you ever get the chance.
I hate you!

Here's one with an outstanding lineup for any of you West Coast forumites living near The Observatory...

X / Los Lobos / Dave Alvin & Phil Alvin / Wanda Jackson / The Knitters / Junior Brown | Observatory

And featuring a record swap, poster exhibit, and craft beer!

I am extremely jealous!!

^^Los Lobos is quality tunage. Saw them a few years back and they blew the roof off the place with the first tune Mas Y Mas. Never heard of the rest of those though.

I've seen X, Los Lobos, Dave Alvin, Wanda Jackson, The Knitters, Junior Brown, Lee Rocker (with The Stray Cats) and Los Straitjackets. Never seen any of the others, but I'd go just to see any one of the top 6 acts play. Seeing them all in one show would be amazing!

Finally got to cross Against Me! off my bucket list. They rocked the ****ing house last night at the Phoenix Theater in Petaluma, CA. I got to chat with Laura Jane Grace for a bit after the show and was just such a fangirl. They played a lot of older stuff which was great, I wasn't expecting to hear everything I did.

In just a few weeks I'll be seeing Swans at the Independent in SF and couldn't be more stoked.

Was supposed to go to Alt Fest last week but it was cancelled with just 2 weeks to go and certain ticket selling websites have gone down too so not much chance of refunds but in true British grit style we have managed to reschedule time off and snag a small but intriguing festival next week : Arc Tangent. On the bill amongst others:

Mono
Lite
God Is An Astronaut
Bats (love this band)
Russian Circles
This Will Destroy You
Tall Ships
Tera Melos
Crippled Black Phoenix
El Ten Eleven

and many more bands I don't really know TBH!

The legendary N.Y band The Toasters are making a very rare foray to the U.K next month and are playing only a few miles away for me to make a trip that should be even more momentous (watch this space)

Opeth and Dreadzone over 2 consecutive nights in October.

The obligatory Damnation one day festival in November with Funeral For a Friend (who are a bit crap) playing at my local pub for some bizarre reason in the same month.
