Stuff I'm going to try to see...

GZA: February 12 (My first rap show)
The Head And The Heart: February 22 (If I like them after I give them a listen that is)
J Mascis: March 10 (Not a huge Dinosaur Jr. fan, but I'm curious to see what he does solo)
The Mountain Goats: April 2 (Definitely not missing this one, one of my favorites)

Would love to see The Mountain Goats live... but alas, time and money are giving me the shaft right now, you'll have to tell us all about it, Charlemagne!

I've been meaning to check out the Mountain Goats... is there an album you guys would recommend?

and I'll hopefully be seeing at least one of these in the next few months:

Curren$y
Johnny Winter
The Pains of Being Pure At Heart
The World is A Beautiful Place And I Am No Longer Afraid to Die (plus a buncha other acts)

The problem is Johnny Winter and The World is are the same night. And Curren$y's the night before. :(

Yeah, I've listened to a couple of songs since then, and he's alright. Concerts are usually fun anyway, though.

The Murs show is what I'm the most excited for obviously. Murs put on a great show last time.

The tour is...

Murs (with Whole Wheat Bread, Tabi Bonney, Ab-Soul and DJ Foundation)

For the Mountain Goats I definitely recommend Tallahassee, and All Hail West Texas, those two are his best albums (and the best to start with too)

And The Pains of Being Pure At Heart are great live, I think you will definitely enjoy their live show, and I really want to see The World Is A Beautiful Place And I Am No Longer Afraid To Die, they came to my hometown over winter break and I couldn't get down to see them, lucky you get a chance to!

Hey, i thought their last album was alright - it was a bit downbeat and kinda lacked a certain spark, but it was probably the most thematic album they've made to date, and even great bands have dud albums from time to time. Personally I found their last album to be a grower that over time opened itself out more and more, and in doing so it drew me in further. It ended up being one of my favorites of last year. But it truly didn't have the immediacy of Turn on The Bright Lights or Antics. It was a different sort of beast, I think.

Still would be a great band to catch live... I'd go if it were on my campus for only $20!
