Saw Pinback on Saturday.
They were great. Exactly what I expected. But the real treat was in the opening act. I half assumed, that since there was no artist listed or even mentioned, Pinback would be the only act. Instead, an instrumental duo who I'd never heard of opened and they were fantastic. They really reminded me of Built to Spill, minus the vocals, but it was impressive because the guitarist strolled onstage with a double-necked Guitar/Bass Guitar combo, and proceeded to electronically loop basslines and guitar lines over each other via some footpedal device. I saw William Fitzsimmons and Rosi Golan tonight. The best show ever, seriously. I love 'em.

Pat Benetar is going to be here later this month though, so it looks like I'll still get my 80's rocker chick fix.

Ah, I tell you, I've been missing a ton of good bands passing through this summer. Three Dog Night and The Guess Who were putting on a big 4th of July bash there in Quapaw and I called in for tickets a week before the concert and everything was sold out. I've been pretty sick about that one. So I plan on Heart healing my wound from that tragedy. Anyway, you'll have to fill me in on the Pat concert and I'll fill you in on the Heart. |
