Saw Pinback on Saturday.

They were great. Exactly what I expected. But the real treat was in the opening act. I half assumed, that since there was no artist listed or even mentioned, Pinback would be the only act. Instead, an instrumental duo who I'd never heard of opened and they were fantastic. They really reminded me of Built to Spill, minus the vocals, but it was impressive because the guitarist strolled onstage with a double-necked Guitar/Bass Guitar combo, and proceeded to electronically loop basslines and guitar lines over each other via some footpedal device.

Quote:
El Ten Eleven is a Los Angeles, CA post-rock duo known for combining guitar/bass doubleneck or fretless bass, with heavy looping, or vamping, and the utility of an effects pedal, over acoustic or electric drumming. They have released three full length albums, earning generally positive reviews.

Quapaw, Oklahoma

Anyone else going to catch this one here?

Didn't think so.
I'm estatic they made Quapaw one of their stops. Its literally out in the middle of nowhere on the corner of three states, Kansas Missouri and Oklahoma. So it really screws the band up when they get up on stage trying to get the crowd warmed up. Foreigner went 'SO HOW ARE THE FOLKS OF QUAPAW..........*mumbles to band* which fucking state are we in again?....
I so wanted to see them when they came thru town last! Jealous...

Pat Benetar is going to be here later this month though, so it looks like I'll still get my 80's rocker chick fix.

Something tells me ol' Pat can still kick up her heels and put on a show. That'll be a good one. You'll have to break out the hair spray and leather for it for sure.

Ah, I tell you, I've been missing a ton of good bands passing through this summer. Three Dog Night and The Guess Who were putting on a big 4th of July bash there in Quapaw and I called in for tickets a week before the concert and everything was sold out. I've been pretty sick about that one. So I plan on Heart healing my wound from that tragedy.

Anyway, you'll have to fill me in on the Pat concert and I'll fill you in on the Heart.

Considering getting tickets to either Bon Jovi or Blondie & the Pretenders...

Which one will be more fun if completely off my face?

I was thinking that, but I know so many more Bon Jovi songs, and it will probably be a younger crowd there too instead of a bunch of middle aged women :/

Then again, Bon Jovi is pretty bloody awful. Hmmm... dilemma
