Residents
Iceage Thao Black Lung All a bit far away, but it's nice to actually look forward to live music again. |
Cypress Hill and Atmosphere
|
Going for Cypress Hill?
|
Atmosphere is decent but ja I'm going with the intention of getting stupid high.
|
I'd like him way better if he would rap about anything other than smoothbrain positivity.
|
Dead Can Dance
Uniform Low have been added to the list. I just need some techno peeps to come to DC at least to get me set. |
Very Hard to find local gigs here, but Cognac is not so far..will be going to a few of them soon....

Cypress Hill was dank. They were all on point but there was some beat juggling **** that was blowing my mind, probably the highlight of the show. Smoked all my joints too fast though. |

Probably a small venue bebop jazz on wednesday and thursday
And I'll try to find a Blues-oriented bar somewhere around here |
Gonna see Little Simz in January.
Hyped af for this. In case someone missed it, the new album is fire. And if the tiny desk concert is any indication this will be an amazing live experience. |
Got my Big Ears ticket
Spoiler for big lineup image:
Especially looking forward to John Zorn, Angel Bat Dawid, Sparks, Sons of Kemet (missed them last time and regretted it), Marc Ribot, Mdou Moctar, Andrew Cyrille, 75 Dollar Bill, Jaimie Branch Fly or Die, Kris Davis Diatom Ribbons, Gyan Riley, Christian Scott Atunde Adjuah, Ches Smith, and Craig Taiborn. Betting that Angel Bat Dawid will be the best show at the festival, she seems really intense live. |
Mine will be Rammstein in Cardiff Wales next summer. Was postponed due to covid.
Also have Offspring in Cardiff later this year, then the Darkness in Bristol. |

I always viewed Elucid as the better emcee of the duo while woods was more humble in that lane with better poetry, but Elucid kind of disappointed me on that end. It was too close to the studio album in a way that was almost jukeboxy. Great performance still but I was expecting some god tier on that end. Was very impressed with woods' performance honestly, it was more like hearing an impassioned rant in a smoke sesh than someone doing a song and dance. He kept his mystique up, squatting whenever Elucid was rapping so that he looked like he was in the audience and telling the venue to turn down the stage lights. Was rad, hopefully I can catch them again. |

Saw a full performance of Die Fledermaus while working as an usher yesterday. Thought it was annoyingly goofy and the performers were pretty mid. The pianist was rad though.
|
Whenever I see or hear a mention of Die Fledermaus.

Fellow postpunk obsessives/noise enjoyers, what acts would you go see out of this lineup? I want to see Caribou for sure

You don't like/know Machine Gun Kelly?
|
There’s three I’d really like to see on Saturday night: Khruangbin, 100 Gecs and the excellent Sampa the Great.
|

Yeah, Khruangbin are about as bland as every other band out there that mixes '68-'75 era Thai funk,
Jamaican reggae, and Iranian pop with props to the funkiness of Stax and soulfulness of Philly Int'l. One of the things I learned from a lifetime of record store working, managing and owning is that it's easy to become one big record store pie where very few there want to cut the first slice. As for seeing 100 Gecs live? Sure, why the hell not? |

Looking forward to finally seeing Goose, and every other band in that line-up. Umphreys is always solid, Greensky so much yes, Disco Biscuits mmhmmm, Lettuce! **** yeah, and Sunsquabi? well slap me silly lets go! |
You're a War on Drugs fan Plank?
|
War On Drugs is pretty good. Their last album was solid.
As for me, I have Roger Waters in a month, followed by Ghost in the fall. I'm going to try to see Coheed and Cambria. That will be a tough ticket to get. |

Coheed can be hit/miss for me but they're a very talented bunch. We used to play Welcome Home in a cover band I was in. That was fun to play. |
I think Deeper Understanding is the band's best album to date.
I saw the band open for Jethro Tull once. My father was with me. He had never heard War on Drugs before. He told me that he ordered 3 albums the next day. |
I just found out I'm going to Steely Dan/Snarky Puppy for Pop's Day. Sweet.
Too bad Corey Henry isn't in the band anymore, but I'm sure they'll still rock Lingus. |
