Kikagaku Moyo with Minami Deutsch

Minami Deutsch on their first U.S. tour, opening for Kikagaku Moyo. I haven't seen Minami Deutsch and I've already seen Kikagaku Moyo a couple of times but they're worth seeing again.
My two favorite Japanese bands touring together on a perfect double bill.

Going to see Swans in April.

The Batlord 11-10-2019 12:49 PM

Ducks are just as good to throw bread at tbh and way easier to find.

Just got my ticket to see 100 Gecs in December.

Frownland 11-10-2019 03:32 PM

Nah I don't like it, I LOVE it. Your boomer ass just wouldn't get it.

Frownland 11-26-2019 12:08 PM

Hell yeah.

Good to see you around EPOCH.

Frownland 01-14-2020 11:27 AM

TFW the Big Ears Festival announces that Anthony Braxton, The Necks, Sons of Chipotle (John Paul Jones & Anssi Karttunen), Fennesz, Sudan Archives, Peter Brotzmann & Andrew Cyrille, Steve Coleman, Terry Riley, Mdou Moctar, Nadah El Shazly, Ches Smith, Josephine Foster, Sarah Davachi, and Zeena Parkins are all on the same day and you know there's gonna be mad overlap

OccultHawk 01-14-2020 11:37 AM

Those are amazing names.

I’m less inclined to try to go though because I watched a bunch of clips and it seems like they try too hard to get everyone to collaborate. I’d still love to go, don’t get me wrong, but I’d want them to just do their **** like they always do not try incorporate some kind of dance ensemble or some ****.

Frownland 01-14-2020 11:48 AM

Wasn't my experience there, what'd you see in particular? They usually had artists their own show in addition to their collaborative performance(s). The fest definitely promotes it to get the most out of the artists they sign on but I think it happens on an organic level too. Lots of jazz artists get most of their income from festivals like these and as a result, they usually find new collaborators that they would've wanted to work with anyways while they're there.

OccultHawk 01-14-2020 12:02 PM

well this clip from the news hour is just no

Frownland 01-14-2020 12:25 PM

Ja I love how the news coverage always details the least exciting aspects of the festival to avoid scaring off their viewer base. There's a lot there so you can make your own experience of it

Wish I didn't miss this one but I was too tired from the night before

ziggywas 01-17-2020 11:53 AM

i m searching for my earplugs. gonna go see Nightstalker. they re a kind of legendary-local-status stoner band (or maybe monster magnet style?). they re a pretty good live act but their engineer must be deaf or something..

here's a track: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kccPmEFdQCs

Hey no worries guy, you can't afford it anymore anyways :drummer:

Think I might catch Algiers as a consolation prize. Hopefully I'll have another opportunity to see Braxton.

Plankton 01-24-2020 12:37 PM

Nickelback, STP, and Switchfoot?

Pro's:
  • STP
  • Right down the street
  • Lawn seats are cool
  • Cheap

Con's:
  • Shameful?
  • Uncool?
  • Real Nickelback fans

Maybe you'll get to chat up some nice religious girls during the Switchfoot set.

I got Heysoos right here in my pants.

I'll prob go just to people watch. I've been to dozens of of concerts there over the years, and I was even at the Dead show when they got banned. It was a sea of hair and patchouli for miles, and my friend had a farm down the street where some of them stayed for months.

I'm rambling again.

The Batlord 01-25-2020 02:29 PM

Just boo the other bands until everyone around you hates you.

Plankton 02-12-2020 10:16 AM

This should be fun:

The lawn pits at the venue here are usually pretty epic.

The "Our New Album Sucks So We Play Mostly Old Songs" tour.

Trivium, Lamb of God, and In Flames are pretty consistent with their suckery from where I'm sitting.

The Batlord 02-12-2020 06:16 PM

Only dick cunts hate on New American Gospel and The Jester Race.

Frownland 02-12-2020 06:44 PM

Hey now, just because I recognize that their most acclaimed albums are as mediocre as the rest of their discography doesn't mean that I'm hating.

The Batlord 02-12-2020 06:49 PM

One day when you find thumb tacks in your macaroni and cheese I want you to remember this conversation.

ShepBranson 02-13-2020 01:48 PM

I am extremely excited!!!

On March 6th I am going to see for the first time legendary Billy Joel.

On March 19th I am going to see Tame Impala and MGMT

On May 16th/17th I will see Foals, Chet Faker, X Ambassadors, Wild Nothing, Kings of Leon and much more on Corona Capital Guadalajara.

I am broke AF but it's worth it!

ShepBranson 02-13-2020 01:56 PM

Hey, if you're a true fan you shouldn't ever be ashamed. I mean they don't have the best reputation but they're still touring because of people like you!

I recently started to listen to Switchfoot again. Made a playlist of my middle school jams lol

The Batlord 02-13-2020 01:57 PM

Who are you talking to?

ShepBranson 02-13-2020 01:57 PM

Give them hell on the mosh pit! Let us know how it went :)

Exo 02-13-2020 02:13 PM

Lol.

Saw Algiers yesterday.
It was wilder and rawer than I expected and overall very cool.
