Need your musical expertise!!!
DJs, I need you.
O.K, so me and my friend are planning a dance/rock party that is only Rock/Punk/Metal/Alternative-Rock music. We have a Gynormous amount of music so i am not asking for speciafic songs or Artist. What I am asking is if anyone knows the best set of types of song to play at which time. How do you get a good party going? For instance, when should I play the slow songs?, how about the faster energetic ones? Heavy songs? Is it a good idea to switch from heavy to possibly sogt and forth or keep in a good transition of the songs? The dance will be about 2 hours and the last song is a manditory Led Zeppelin- Stairway to Heaven (school thing). I hope for serious suggestions and I thank you for your help. |

im not a DJ. but, i propose you play the newest, fastest, most mainstream songs in your collection first to get a wide variety of people on the dancefloor. once they have been hooked with the popular, contemporary hits, flood them with songs that maintain the energetic, fast, adrenaline-fuelled theme. throw in the odd slow song in between to act as a resbite, but make sure its a popular slow song so they can sing along and enjoy themselves. at the end hit them with the slow, cheesy ballads, the chances are they are all pissed from a nights consumption of alcohol so any power-ballad will have them singing at the top of their lungs

and for advice, Stu's was very solid. I recommend in my non-DJing opinion to go with it.

Have every style of music available especialy the Disco hits. A good sister Sledge or Bee Gee's can save a dieing party. Don't forget the cheezy crap like the Cha Cha Slide, guys hate it but will dance to it if they think they may get laid. Also have a the droopy old Country songs ready to go.... They chics will ask. No matter what they say the party's music is supposed to be you will be asked to play it.
