my friend used to make fun of Captain Beefheart until i explained to him that most of the crap he listens to (John Frusciante, Black Keys, White Stripes) cited Beefheart as an influence. considering i'm usually the one getting ridiculed for my taste in music i find it amusing when my friends are wrong 99% of the time.

To be fair to your friends.
Thurtson Moore was influenced by Metal Machine Music, that doesn't mean all Sonic Youth fans have to like Metal Machine Music. |
