This brings me to ask the question....
How can a "bad" artist be so successful?

For your answer, just ask American Idol runner-up Clay Aiken.

Because success and integrity are mutually exclusive.

I can be hugely successful if I want to lie and manipulate people on their flaws and vunrability (a la singing songs to lonly women with my shirt off) or I can be successful doing what I want in an uncompramising fashion (Neil Young).

They aren't related in the slightest.

I make that 13 times a day I have to hear him.

But I do sympathise with you in your plight , nobody should have to endure that
haha, i'm sorry i doubted your pain. we should really start a support group to get through this traumatic time.

Ok, I have an idea what your reply will be to this, but I'm going to say it anyway... I'm not a 20something who has just been dumped, I couldn't care less what he says at an awards ceremony and the clothes coming off in the vid does nothing for me BUT I do like James Blunt. I don't care whether or not he writes his own songs. I think he has a unique voice and for some reason it appeals to me. Isn't that what pop music is all about? to be successful, one cannot be bad.

*bracing myself for a barrage of criticism*

I tempted to declare my love for James Blunt to piss off everyone that has posted in this thread, but alas I can't.
