Come on .. Eric Clapton's son dying at 4 and him making a song about it is sad (Tears in Heaven). John Martyn separating from his wife and being so torn up about it, playing the song he wrote about it decades later in his life still upsets him, that's sad (Hurt In Your Heart).

I mean, "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing" is like colourful balloons and dancing fairies compared to that

Well, it depends on how you define sad. Two of De Andre's songs that can be described as sad springs to mind, but they are totally different as far as sadness is concerned.

"Guerra di Piero" is a cold, almost cynical take on solitary death and regret, while "Sidun", (which is sung in Genoese) is more raw, lamenting and heartfelt.

i have never heard Eric Claptons song, nor have i ever heard of him..
i suppose, i still find "I Don't Want To Miss a Thing" a sad song though .

edit: i went on youtube, looked it up. i dont think it was the right one (Eric Clapton one), so if you could give me the link or somethin, a would apreciate it
