yeah indeed, that is a good shout.

honestly though I believe "Embrace" by Low is unbeatable to my ears in terms of being the saddest, most moving thing ever recorded.

I actually think Christmas music can be quite sad. Have you listened to Charlie Brown's Christmas cd? Honestly, it makes me sad when I hear it!

Pancho & Lefty always gets to me. Heartbreaking without being manipulative.

Richard Thompson's "Keep Your Distance" is fairly devastating.

The Flying Burrito Brothers - Hot Burrito #1 (though #2 is also killer).

Cash's cover of "Hurt" is always brought up, but "I See a Darkness" is the one that gets to me.

cool thread, I love sad music. I know what u mean when u say that christmas music can be sad for u. It's crazy how a song can really bring you back to when u first heard it.
My favs from my DOWN playlist:
Al Green - "For the good times", "mend a broken heart"; Andre Nickatina - "blood in my hair", "rose"; Beck - "Girl of my Dreams", "everybody's gotta learn"; Bill Withers - "ain't no sunshine"; Wilco & Billy Bragg - "One by one"; Bob Dylan - "Don't think twice", "Girl from the north county (w/ J Cash); Bob Marley - "my cup" "redemption song"; Clash - "straight to hell"; Daniel Johnston - "Some things", "true love"
