2005: The Up/Down
It's over now and it was a soild year for albums. List your top three and then the three that disappointed you the most. List a few reasons and then we'll rip each other apart over eveyone else stupid picks. Yes, the OP is condoning fights, lets not bother with opinion here.
I would like to institue a few rules though: 1. Has to be new material; complilations, live albums, and reissues are out for this particular thread. 2. Three for each. I'd like to ask the mods to delete posts that don't have three for each. I can foresee people only listing bad ones, or listing 105 for their favorites. If someone lists more or less then you guys feel free to delete or add in the albums of your choosing (the mods I mean). 3. Double albums count as one release. Even if they weren't released together.

Best:
Bullet For My Valentine "The Poison" I <3 it i think its good fun metal music with a nice "fake emo" influence lyrically and vocally. Thrice "Vheissu" The lyrics are genius its way softer then anything else they've done, its an extremely solid album and flows very nicely. Coheed and Cambria "Good Apollo I'm Burning Star IV etc.." The story the album telling is brilliant, and the guitaring is very very good and the songwriting is well put together and it flows nicely. Worst: Darkness "One Way Ticket To Hell" The 80s are over and hearing the same un original music is getting lame and do something new and wear some clothes christ Audioslave "Out Of Exile" Grunge is done, and you've managed to release a crappier version of your last album. Amazing. Weezer "Make Believe" Yes, it sounds like everything else you released, beverly hills = lame-o hit song. Yes, i hate the albums that are boring and sound like everything else they've done just my opinion though. |

I posted some of this somewhere else but it won`t hurt to do it again here
Best Eels - Blinking Lights & Other Revelations I just love the way Eels albums just come out of nowhere with little hype & little fanfare & continually be of an excellent standard.Although it`s a double album it doesn`t fall into the trap of having half good stuff & half rubbish. You can see that a lot of thought has gone into this record.I`ve no doubt this album will probably get ignored in favour of more albums by 'current indie darlings' but I don`t really care , I know it`s great & that`ll do for me Super Furry Animals - Lovekraft Simple reason really , their first 2 albums were 2 of the most wonderful eclectic albums i`d ever heard. And then they spent the last 7 years releasing uninspiring rubbish. This was a return to form of the old SFA & when that band are on top form nobody comes close. Goldie Lookin Chain - Safe As F*ck Because in one of the most depressing years I can remember in music for a while and with all the Live 8 crap and bands taking themselves far far too seriously , I just think it`s great that a bunch of welsh rappers can take the piss out of everything. And they`re about a million times funnier than Tenacious D ever were. Biggest Disapointments Dandy Warhols - Odditorium & The Warlords Of Mars Wank wank wank wank wank , how on earth do you release a double album with NO good songs on it at all.Is this really the same band that made all those great singles circa 2000? QOTSA - Lullabies To Paradise Too many guest appearences which in my mind gave the album a lack of direction & made it totally unfocused. It`s a really difficult balance when you work like that , they pulled it off for SFTD , but not here sadly.A shame because I was really looking forward too it. White Stripes - Get Behind Me Satan As far as I am concerned the White Stripes can do anything & i`ll buy it.The one thing they can`t do is be boring , this album was DULL.I appreciate they`re trying to work from a broader canvas from what they`re usually known for , but if you`ve not got the songs to back it up it falls flat on it`s arse. And thats the biggest shame , none of the songs on this album grabbed me at all. I hope it`s just a blip & we have a back to basics album coming out from them next.

Ok my favourite:
Foo Fighters - In Your Honour: Just brilliant. Sometimes with new music I find it hard to like all the songs in one album, but David Grohls voice is like sex in my ears! Really could understand the songs. Deep Purple - Rapture Of The Deep: It's Deep Purple, what can I say? Still loving it. Beautiful songs. Pluto - Pipeline Under The Ocean: Absolutely awesome Kiwi music, I was drawn like a moth to a flame by their single Long White Cross. Really original sound to it. Worst: Korn - See You On The Otherside: Ugh, they are getting from bad to worse. Hillary Duff - Most Wanted: Her voice is whiny and her music is so boring. Beats Lindsay Lohan's crap though. The Black Eyed Peas - Monkey Business: They are getting more and more whorish as they release more singles, and this album is absolutely pointless. There's no dignity at all, and the shock factor is so over, people have stopped complaining about the rudeness because it really sounds like a toliet flushing, over and over. I'm so sick of Fergies ****ed up face, it's like she's constantly needing to take a dump. I found a site that has the worst albums, singles and vids, check it out, it's funny: Photograph, Nickelback THIS ode to the "good old days" reminded us of a time when sexist, Paddle Pop Lion-lookalikes weren't inflicting their sub-Bon Jovi rock dirges on the world. http://entertainment.news.com.au/sto...002081,00.html

Best in my opinion
Judas Priest - Angel Of Retribution. What do I need to day.Halfords return has to make it worthwhile Deep Purple - Rapture Of The Deep. They still sound just as good as ever. Worst The Darkness - One Way Ticket To Hell. They need one. U2 - How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb. It's a carbon copy of their last album only with different lyrics |
