If I really had to pick one of these magazines, I would pick SPIN. I remember one issue I picked up which featured the ten most impotant punk bands ever and they included Public Enemy. That is cool, and most people wouldn't have seen that coming. But they are 100% right

I wouldn't say Public Enemy were as important for punk as punk was important for them.

1. Kanye West, Late Registration
14. Thelonious Monk Quartet With John Coltrane, At Carnegie Hall
15. Gorillaz, Demon Days
21. Common, Be
26. Queens of the Stone Age, Lullabies to Paralyze
40. Neil Young, Prairie Wind

A couple of good albums (bolded) and a few ok but expected albums (italic). The rest don't fit my bill.

Default covering bases

Rolling stone dosent suck in my opinion, they try to cover all the bases of music. Taking into consideration they are part of the big coorperate music machine. Now if a mag. like Under the Radar put out a list like this, it may see out of place.
