What's the most you've ever dropped on a one record? I mean I've seen some of this stuff on ebay and it goes for absolutely crazy prices.

I think the most I've spent on a single record was around £100.

Toby Legend - Time Will Pass You By.

I've seen that on offer for around £400 now.
I don't buy expensive vinyl these days, certainly not since the kids arrived on the scene. I couldn't justify the prices to the wife for some of the records I'd like to add to my collection.

I do own several records that are worth a few hundred quid each item, but I'd never part with them for anything.
Most of the vinyl I own was bought years ago, for what was then expensive at the time. All of which have held their value and probably worth a lot more now.

Instead I tend to buy up as many CD's as I can afford these days, that way I can own some of the rarer and more expensive tunes.

Even some of the CD's are collectable now though.
I remember seeing one CD going for £50 on ebay and I'd seen it for sale at a local indoor market for face value only the previous week.
I even took time out of work to buy it.
It's worth around £150 by now.

A lot of the rarer CD's were deleted after some of the artists, or whoever owned the rights objected to them being used on compilations.
I have quite a lot of deleted CD's that are becoming almost as collectable as the vinyl.

Northern Soul is a scene that I have forever been meaning to checkout. Any good up's out there?

Any of the Wigan Casino comps are a good place to start.

jackhammer...give me a few days and I'll up a personal compilation of some of my favourites.
I'd do it now, but I'm still adding software since the crash.

Amazon.co.uk: The Best Northern Soul All-Nighter... Ever: Music: Various Artists

In the meantime, if you can find a link for that ^ it's a good a place as any to start.
The reviews are pretty spot on.
It does have a few tracks I wouldn't really associate with Northern Soul, but then that's because I'm a purist.

It shouldn't be too hard to find, it's probably one of the more widely available compilations.
It has one or two favourites of mine including the 3 before 8.
So called because the 3 were played last at Wigan allnighters, just before kicking out time at 8am.

'Long After Tonight Is All Over'
'Time Will Pass You By'
'I'm On My Way'

Moloko (nice tune) + dancing which is a major part of the scene.
It's not just all about rare 60's vinyl.
