If it wouldn't be too much trouble...
If you could put that Jaibi song you were talking about in the 'choose a song you love' thread on there that would be great, i want to hear it. |

Can you recommend some albums?

Some excellent tracks here and a good all round introduction to Northern Soul.
So swim...a good a place to start as any. Some of the classic spins are; Gloria Jones - 'Tainted Love'. I'd imagine everyone is aware of this track by now. Fascinations - 'Girls Are Out To Get You'. Laura Greene - 'Moonlight Music & You'. Could be heard on a Kentucky Fried Chicken advert a few years ago. One for the ladies. Larry Williams & Johnny Watson - 'Too Late'. Instantly catchy. Morris Chestnut - 'Too Darn Soulful'. Exactly that. Lou Ragland - 'I Travel Alone'. One of my favourites. Now these are two of the famous 3 before 8. Traditionally played at the end of a Wigan Casino allnighter, (which would finish at 8am). Dean Parish - 'I'm On My Way'. Tobi Legend - 'Time Will Pass You By'. To be played at my funeral. A track which on first listen you will fail to be impressed with, but sooner or later you will recognise to be... a solid piece of Soul gold. The missing of the 3 being Jimmy Radcliffe's - 'Long After Tonight Is All Over'. Erma Franklin - 'I Get The Sweetest Feeling'. Version of the Jackie Wilson classic. Awesome. Billy Butler - 'The Right Track'. A song that has a strong and deeply personal meaning (to me at least) and obviously my username. Also to be played at my funeral. Marvin Gaye - 'Lonely Lover'. Worth the trouble of downloading on it's own. Tells a sad story...real heartbreaker. |
