After you've played enough tracks of your own it also opens up the chance to listen to similar bands to those on your playlist, and I've discovered a few pretty cool new bands from that in the last couple of months.

No download plugin is necessary. Music on pages in LastFM streams as-is on the site. But I don't subscribe to the idea of streaming audio. LastFM seems to be for people who are a bit selfish with their music. Let's all forget streaming audio. Forget it. If you're going to share music, just give people the darn songs to keep in mp3 format.
