I'm in the market for a different one since updating my mediamonkey ruined the important parts of what I enjoyed about their program. (Or I need to revert to an older version) |

I was using Audacious but I couldn't get the last.fm plugin to work so I moved over to QMMP which for Crunchbang Linux just required you to enter your username and password. I've sinced moved on to ArchBang linux and this one is saying I need a Session number.
QMMP is pretty cool though, it only uses like 100mb of RAM even when you have 1000 songs loaded onto a playlist. |

That's neat. I run on a netbook. It has ... probably 1 Gig of RAM. If I recall. It chugs. It takes 10 minutes to turn on my mediamonkey and load my 18,000 song library. Almost glad I don't have 100,000 songs anymore. Haha. And when I want to run music and browse the web, one or the other goes "Not Responding" when switching a song or loading a new page. This computer makes me feel like I'm in 2002. I need a very low maintenance music player that scrobbles.
Since my mediamonkey scrobber is ... not NOT working, but not scrobbling consistently in the least (it'll scrobble the first ... 30 minutes or so and then stop until I reboot it or something strange I don't understand --- and wrong timestamps galore)... here's my last month: Aesop Rock 61 Tom Waits 60 Rush 56 Brian Posehn 54 Themselves 25 El-P 24 Ozric Tentacles 24 Tool 21 Primus 17 Led Zeppelin 17 Cake 16 Faith No More 14 Stephen Lynch 14 Gogol Bordello 13 Bluetech 12 Monkey3 12 Autem 12 Farzad Golpayegani 12 Secret Saucer 12 Beck 11 Graveyard 11 Øresund Space Collective 11 |

With Ubuntu my Audacious last.fm scrobbler works perfectly fine but QMMP is asking me for a session id as well. I usually stick to Banshee as it gives me very little hassle and it's simple to use.

I just like having a simple light media player that I can just load up a series of albums rather than having it access every single album in my library. Takes too long to load up, makes my ancient computer sound like it's about to explode, and then I'm stuck fixing tags for an hour. I'm not too bothered, I can still scrobble with Spotify, and at the end of the day... I cannot honestly remember the last time I actually used Last.fm for anything.

Well I got my scrobbler working with Audacious so I dumped QMMP. I'm fine with that, Audacious is even smaller and takes less RAM so I'm fine with that.
Anyhow here's my list, all of it scrobbled from Spotify. 01. The Cure - 67 plays 02. of Montreal - 38 plays 03. Fiona Apple - 32 plays 04. Beach House - 20 plays 05. Marcus D - 17 plays (awesome album, highly recommended if you like Nujabes) 06. Mission to Burma - 16 plays 07. Sonic Youth - 13 plays 08. Death Grips - 13 plays 09. Muse - 12 plays 10. The Zombies - 12 plays 11. Joy Divison - 11 plays 12. Interpol - 11 plays 13. Ty Segall Band - 11 plays 14. Band of Horses - 10 plays 15. The Walkemn - 6 plays Mostly a mix of revisiting old classics and listening to a few new albums. It has been years since I've given The Cure's '80's material a real listen and I have to say I really enjoyed revisiting the music of my Freshman year of high school. |
