I want a guitarist with his own style though, not one that adapts to whoever the other guitarist is. You can barely make out Johnny Marr on We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank.

I think you can, there's some guitar parts in songs like Florida and Steam Engenius which are the definitely the sort of jangly pop style he does.

Sonic Youth + Jim O'Rourke is about as good as it gets. Maybe that's why Murray Street is such a good album.
