You're all wrong. All that you need to do to create a new genre is come up with a double barrelled name, for example:
'Nosecore Group-I Metal' And come up with a scene dress code, so that all of the kids who flock to the new genre can conform with each other in a totally non-conformist way. This could involve maybe having one eyebrow shaved off completely and wearing a monocle, while also sporting a bleached cru-cut, all-black clothes with pink trainers. If a bunch of bands all start dressing in the same way then the kids will pick it up pretty soon and hey presto, new genre! As far as I can tell, genres have less to do with music than they do with geographical location and dress sense. |
