For Real Music Lovers
What different music is moulded into you, as in, bringing out a side of you that expresses your personality? What songs bring out your passion, your emotions, your senses?
Instead of me just asking what band you like, I want to know why you like them, what makes them special to you, share your experiences and love of music! For people in bands, describe the experiences of playing gigs, to see others appreciating your talents.

im in a band, and get really nervous beforehand, keep thinkn im gonna screw up horribly, but i never do, so yea guess thats good. |

i grew up listening to the old storytelling country artists, and 70s rock/metal. when i got old enough to listen to music of my choice, i listened to metal, i like the aggression in it. then i found punk, which had the agression without the fairytales of demons and whatnot. it was something i felt i could relate to more: the struggles of the working class, the corruption of the powers that be, the idea of equality. Ive been playing in bands since i was 15. the first few gigs were parties and i was nervous, not that i was going to mess up, i knew the songs, i was more nervous that ppl werent going to like it. we were playing with bands that had alot more talent, but were playing whatever style was popular at the time and we werent. that feeling went away as soon as i moved to phx where there are tons of punk bands. My first big show was with UK Subs when i was about 17 and i think i was in such awe that i didnt get a chance to get nervous. since then ive had the chance to play with alot of bands that i listened to so just being able to meet these bands and hang out and talk about influences and favorite albums is a cool experiance.

the group i like the best and listen to the most is a female R&B group called Black & Myld. there are 2 reasons for my preference 1) the first time I saw and heard them perform I fell in love with them and their music 2) I have been working with them eversince then three years now. although i'm a musician myself, i've been traveling around the country with them shooting video. they really are a spectacular trio with vocal harmonies that are unparalled. if you don't believe me check them out for yourself. you can listen to the first two minutes of each song on their cd.

Well, seeing as how im still young, I'd hafta say that the genres that represent me most are: Punk, Jazz, Blues, Old Rock and Roll, and some Rap. I'm 13, and i already know who Syl Johnson is, Johnny Thunders, Link Wray, Elmore James and Magic Sam are, not to brag. I guess music has always been the one thing that Ive liked for my whole life.
Living in the city, however, there arent too many people you meet in my neighborhood like me. I spend most of my time listening, playing, and talkin about music. Alot of the songs I like are about the city, such as "Damn It Feels Good To Be A Gangsta", or relax me like "Bullfrog Blues". I've never been one for popular music, current music, (such as emo, screamo, etc) or death metal, country, electronica, or avant garde stuff. I like music with a beat, a good grove/riff, and some tough lyrics. With music, i can envision the emotions and places in the songs. Since i dont have enough money to go to France, i listen to Django. and since ive never been to New York, i listen to alot of Biggie. Music, for me, is the main source of entertainment for my imagination. On the other hand, i can connect with music from my life, such as Johnny Thunders, and Motorhead. Since both are agressive, I feel they are like my personal anthems. All I can really say is I <3 Music. |

The band Quantice Never Crashed really brings out everything in me. When I'm at their show, or any show for that matter, I've never seemed to care about what I was doing. I usually dance, scream, bob my head to the tempo inside my head. I feel so safe listening to music...it encases me and makes me feel safe. I don't think anything can harm me when I'm into the music. The passion I have for music isn't just so I can say OH EM GEEZ MUZiC!1`! I really do love it, and the feeling I get when I listen to it.
Wow. That was so sentimental.
