Oasis just for the simle logic that they put out albums I like and Greenday hasn't.

Being a teenager in America when Oasis hit it "big" here, and going by what you "brits" keep saying about them, I can tell you this: Oasis had nowhere near the impact here in the states that they did "across the pond". Were they popular when they came out? sure..but no more though than any other band that came out with a hit album at the time. Hell, if i had to say so, I'd say Beck would be more influential to american rockers from that time than Oasis is here. From my point of view, and most of the people I know agree...Oasis put out one really good album..a good follow up album..and then Liam and his brother became one big running joke to us. Argue all you want about how big and influential they are over there..just remember: David Hasselhoff is big in Germany..so should we include him in this too? It's like saying: I'm big in Japan. Oasis wasn't all that influential on the "rock" scene as a whole..they may have been on thier homeland, but not here in the states. so arguing this is a moot point. it's my own fault for comparing them to nirvana i guess, but i didn't realize how big they were in England. Guess it's like how popular Local H is here in Chicago..but outside of here, not all that many know of them anymore.

I've always been more of a Green Day man myself. That might be because I saw them live, though, and they rocked.

You know why English bands dont always make it big in America? This is me being controversial here, its because Americans don’t like English acts to be as ****y as them! You don’t give them the time of day! Sorry, but surly shouldn’t the little island with the greatest bands get to decide who are good or bad?

If you think the band is good because they're English, you should shoot yourself. I and 90% of the people I know, listen to music they like....not just because it's from their own country. One of my favorite bands, Bush, happens to be English. Oasis doesn't have **** on them either.

I agree with your assesment. I do tend to think that there are biases when it comes to people liking bands from their own country. I don't like a band based on anything other than the music they play. Overall, British bands just haven't put out all that much that i've gotten into, personally. The only reason I replied to this thread was the comment that Oasis was the biggest band of the 90's. If the person had said biggest band of the 90's in England, I wouldn't have replied at all. This is why The Beatles are, and always will be the better, bigger band..because they took the music world by storm, and were #1 everywhere..not just here #1 in thier home country, and in the top ten here and there.

i didn't say just because they're english they must be good, they have many **** english bands...such as bush or even the bravery! i just said americans dont give c-o-c-ky english bands a real listen to...also i kinda suggested that the uk produces much greater band material....

I'm not really a fan of either. I used to be, and I was a bigger fan of Oasis, but that was the older albums.

Green Day is way better band
