Default Songs Sung By Someone Other Than The Group's Main Or Best Known Lead Vocalist

Neil Young & Crazy Horse - Come On Baby Let's Go Downtown

The late Danny Whitten sang lead on the records Crazy Horse made without Neil Young. But this Whitten-sung tune is from Neil Young & Crazy Horse's album Tonight's The Night:

She's So Fine - The Jimi Hendrix Experience

I think this is the only song from the original lineup that wasn't sung by Jimi. Not a bad tune but mediocre at best and I always think of it as an example of album "filler."

Ooh La La - Faces with Ron Wood on lead vocals and not Rod Stewart.

There are probably a couple dozen examples of Keith Richards singing lead vocals on Stones songs but this one might be my favorite of them all...

Tim Rushlow was the lead of Little Texas when they were all over country radio back in the 90s. Fellow band member Dwayne O'Brien took the lead during this cover of "Peaceful Easy Feeling".

Ian Anderson didn't sing on a couple songs on Jethro Tull's first album.

Just curious: Which then-member(s) of Tull sang lead on the other two songs?

A lot of interesting responses. Well done, all.

Ian Hunter was the primary vocalist with Mott The Hoople but other members were featured as well.

Verden Allen - Soft Ground from album, All The Young Dudes.
The Hammond C3 organ was never more menacing!

Overend Watts - Born Late 58 from album, The Hoople

Mick Ralphs sang several songs in the pre glam days of Mott The Hoople including 4 of the 9 tracks on the countryish album, Wildlife.

Mick also shared lead vocals with Ian Hunter on Ready For Love from the glam masterpiece, All The Young Dudes. When Bad Company covered this song, Paul Rogers sang the verses previously sung by Mick Ralphs and they left out the two verses that Ian Hunter had sung, go figure!

The Flaming Lips - Out For A Walk

Wayne Coyne wasn't originally the band's lead singer, his brother Mark was. Although Mark Coyne didn't stick around long, he sang on the group's debutr EP. This is one of those songs.

On "Some Day the Sun Won't Shine for You" Anderson co-sung the song with someone else (not sure who, probably Mick Abrams again). I'm not sure who's singing on "It's Breaking Me Up," but it doesn't sound like Anderson. Same with "A Song for Jeffrey."
