Default Your Fave Albums Of 2024

Since it will be 2025 in a few days, it's a good time to think about what your favorite albums of 2024 were. Here's my list:

The Paranoid Style: The Interrogator

One could argue whether this is a 2023 or 2024 release. The vinyl/download came in February of this year, but the CD version has been available directly from the band since October 2023, which is when I got my copy. I don't think this intelligent, funny, rocking band is capable of putting out a bad album, and The Interrogator is no exception.

Babe The Blue Ox: What About Today?

This was released on June 1, 2024, and is available on the band's Bandcamp page. It is their first album since 2013, and apparently there isn't a physical release: no vinyl, CD, or cassette, just download and streaming. In any event, this group hasn't lost its touch.

The Dandy Warhols: Rockmaker

This is another one of those bands that's been around a long time that I've never heard much by. As I always say, so much music, so little time, you know? I'm glad I took the time to listen to Rockmaker: catchy psychedelia-tinged rock that's well worth your time.

I'm interested in seeing the lists of others. Since this is posted in General Music, it doesn't matter what genre(s) you prefer--jazz, hip hop, blues, country, pop, K-Pop, reggae, rock, punk, alternative, experimental, R&B, classical, opera, folk, and anything else is fair game.

These four 2024 releases were the ones that got the most repeat plays from me over the course of the year...

Michael Nau - Montrose Tape

Mellow & dreamy psychedelia with lyrics which are open to interpretation.

LAIR - Ngélar

Psych/folk/rock with a South East Asian and Indian vibe. All the way from Jatiwangi, Indonesia

Sun Ra - Inside The Light World: Sun Ra Meets The OVC

The amount of unreleased music from Sun Ra that is still out there, never ceases to amaze me. This one is top-notch all the way through. Also interesting to me is that these songs were recorded in a studio just a few miles down the road from me at the time.

Thee Sacred Souls - Got a Story to Tell

The second album from this group out of San Diego, California. Groovy soul songs with a cool vintage vibe.
