This was the first one that came to my mind...

Lynyrd Skynyrd - Sweet Home Alabama

Well, I heard Mr. Young sing about her
Well, I heard ol' Neil put her down
Well, I hope Neil Young will remember
A Southern man don't need him around, anyhow

Blue Öyster Cult, Lynyrd Skynyrd, .38 Special, Johnny Van Zant Band, Molly Hatchet, Ozzy Osbourne, Randy Rhoads, AC/DC, & Bon Scott, all get mentioned in this one...

The chorus of this awesome song includes the mentioning of three legendary singers.

Good choices from Psi-Fi and Sweet Heart Holly. That Drive-By Truckers tune really name drops a lot of musicians.

I get a very vague feeling that Holly might like Mason Ramsey. Maybe. Possibly. Nah, probably just my imagination.

Anyway, Pixies mention Lou Reed in this song:

P.S. Go here for a better idea of how deep my love for him goes. Every word in each clip came from my heart, mind, and soul.

Here's another one by Drive-By Truckers. The title says it all...

The last time I saw Frank Zappa play live was on the U.S. tour that this song was recorded on. He had a fantastic band on that tour but there was a lot of internal conflict between band members, so Frank ended up cancelling the tour before it was finished.

I noticed the Marty Stuart/Connie Smith reference/comparison--I read you loud and clear.

I saw what the audience was told was the world premiere of the GG Allin documentary movie at a local repertory/"art" cinema years ago. I can't quite recall why Cincinnati was chosen, or if was by happenstance.
