When did you see Fogerty? I saw him in '98 and last summer. The '98 concert was great but the show last summer was the second best rock show I've ever seen. He was really fired up.

I saw him twice. the first time was in 1998 in Boston, MA and the second time was in 2000 in Mansfield, MA. I thought the 2000 show was a bit lackluster but I thoroughly enjoyed the 1998 show. I had seen the Smashing Pumpkins in Boston earlier in 1998 and noticed that John Fogerty had the same drummer playing in his band at that 1998 show which I thought was interesting.

Stephen Stills. Got his autograph, too.

Interesting. When did you see him?

Spring of 1984, he performed at a rally for presidential candidate Gary Hart on the south parking lot of the Garden State Plaza in Paramus, NJ.

He was pretty drunk, too.

I still have the autograph. I had been a volunteer for the Hart campaign, and early in the rally I found out Stephen Stills was there. Being a big CSN fan I grabbed whatever I could to get an autograph (the back half of an envelope) and went down to where he was and got him to sign it.

Cool story. If it had been David Crosby, he probably would have told you to **** off if you asked him for his autograph. Was it a solo performance by Stills, or did he have a band?

A friend of mine in college had tickets to see Stills at another college town that wasn’t too far away. He was going to ask a gal to go with him but seemed pretty sure she would say no, so he asked me if I wanted to go if she declined as he expected. But she said yes. That’s the way it goes sometimes.

He was solo. I seem to recall he just sang maybe 2 or 3 songs.

I think there were other performers there but if so I don't remember who. In any case I was just interested in Stills.

As of two nights ago, I have an addition to my initial list:

Canned Heat

I know, the only remaining member from the “classic” 60s/early 70s lineup is the drummer. But the band always seems to have good musicians. Two of the songs from the band’s most recent album, “One Last Boogie” and “East West Boogie”, were highlights of the set.
