Default A difficult question on music and psychology

I became a fanatical fan of Blue Öyster Cult when I was 18. I sincerely believe that the reason for my fandom was the fact that I was suffering from a psychosis (schizophrenia specifically) at the time. And BÖCs music fascinated me because it was so gosh darn *weird*.

Now, that giver rise to an interesting and difficult question. Frank Zappa´s music at the time was *also* really weird. So why did I not also become a big fan of Frank Zappa?

Any ideas? I would be interested in hearing some input from any psychiatrists who might be hanging out here on Music Banter!
