Bad Concerts? :/
I am listening to Bruce Springsteen's cover of Santa Claus Is Coming To Town and I think of disgruntled BS Fans who said they went to a HORRIBLE BS Concert. They said something like,"The EXPENSIVE BS Concert ticket was the first red flag and we should have heeded the red flag. The BS Concert ticket was around $300 before fees. We went to the BS Concert and he was an hour late and just sang his songs in a monotone, bored, lackluster way and didn't even thank the Fans for showing their Support, just left after the show. We were flabbergasted, floored, shocked, and stunned. That's the last BS show I'll ever be to!'" It seems to me that BS was being well pure BS in that awful Concert. I wonder if anyone asked for refunds and got them....

Most concerts healined by musicians who tour on a national/international scale are usually at least good or OK because the performers have been doing it a long time, even before they got to where they could tour on a large scale. But there are some bad ones I've seen:
Love And Rockets: These guys might be 3/4ths of Bauhaus, but Pete Murphy has all the brains. They played a lot of bland music, with Daniel Ash shaking his ass like he was a teen idol. He looked pathetic. The only reason I went was because Pixies were opening. They blew Danny, Davey and Kevy off the stage. Gordon Lightfoot: Parts of the show were good, but the whole gig would have been much better if Gordo would have waited until after the show to get loaded. I gave him a second chance years later and he was much better. Greg Kihn: Played too short of a set, and what he played was mostly by the numbers. The only time he and his band really caught fire was on an extended version of "Valerie." The Honeymoon Killers: The American band, not the French one. How they got called an alternative band is beyond me. They came off like a lightweight load of heavy metal sludge. |

The last couple I remember...
The Offspring (8/22/23) - We were in the pit for this show with Simple Plan and Sum 41, expectations were high. The Offspring was patronizing and borderline insulting. "This is the best crowd ever"! "We're going to do something special tonight", they played Gone Away on piano just like 15 years ago! It was my 4th time seeing The Offspring, I know what they are like when they are good, this was not it. Reverend Horton Heat (7/5/23) - I've seen this band a few times before and it's always fun. The band was 'OK' on this night but the crowd was totally subpar. This band has picked up no new and younger fans, it was exclusively people 40+ in age and not active. The opening Delta Bombers were better on every level. |

I’ve always heard that Bruce Springsteen puts on an amazing live show, so hearing about a concert like this is surprising. $300+ for a ticket is definitely a lot, especially if the performance didn’t live up to expectations. It’s frustrating when an artist doesn’t acknowledge the audience or seems to be going through the motions. I wouldn’t be shocked if some fans asked for refunds, but getting one for a concert might be tough unless it was canceled or severely delayed.
It's a shame when an artist you love disappoints like that, especially after years of great music. Hopefully, future shows (if you give him another shot) are more like the energetic performances he's known for. |
