Yeah, they did. Is it La Grange?

Plankton 01-19-2018 07:12 AM

^Has to be it. Tres Hombres 1973, awesome album.

Excellent album indeed. I just didn't think there were any hit singles from it.
SWIK.

La Grange has been overplayed on NA radio stations for quite a few years now.

Guess it didn't translate over here. Nobody here even knew ZZ, commercially at least, till Eliminator.

I prefer Moving Sidewalks myself :D

Yeah, Troll, quick history. They started out as the Moving Sidewalks in the sixties (thus my mini joke  ).They broke through with Tres Hombres in 1973 as Plankton indicated. They also had a hit with Tush a few years later (can't remember the exact year) and was played off and on at AOR radio stations. Then they broke through with Eliminator in 1983 thanks to MTV and a trio of hot girls. They rode that wave for a few years obviously.

Yeah, I remember my brother loving (like we all did) the singles from Eliminator (would we have loved them as much without the videos? Answers on a postcard...) and buying Rio Grande Mud. His exact words: "This is nothing like the other album!" No ****, sherlock! :D

I went the other direction. I went through a big ZZ phase in the early 80's, buying listening to Deguello, Tejas, Fandango and Tres Hombres, and when Eliminator came out, I was a little disappointed.
