This is certainly possible, but as I was generally sobre at the time I could observe what people ordered and, as I said, it never really varied from bar to bar. They all had their favourite drinks - Harp, Bass, Johnny Walker Black, Southern Comfort, Bacardi, whatever - and stuck to these in every bar we ended up in. I mean, what you're saying would make a certain amount of sense, but I never saw this happen.

I can get drunk anywhere, I go out for a nice setting to be wasted in.

People buying common drinks means that bars don't serve exotic ones? Interesting.

It gives the night a certain momentum when you're always on the move while still giving each spot enough time to play itself out. Eventually you do just want to sit down and enjoy being tanked on your ass though.

I'd join you guys if you would be willing to walk very slowly. I'd rather just hang out and take turns picking tunes to listen to. I'm sure you or Frown could call some girls over. I'll take the ugliest one no problem.

I've always had a problem finding bars with a decent gin selection. They rarely ever have Hayman's Old Tom! :c

As for the whole bar-hopping thing in general-- I can suffer through places that have sub-par music and mildly annoying crowds (filled with aging frat boys and miserable looking couples) if they have really good bartenders, a patio and an interesting drink selection. There was this one place in Baton Rouge that had an enormous menu of recreated old-timey cocktails, and they were expensive, but wonderful. And likewise, I can tolerate so-so drinks and bad food if the atmosphere of the place is interesting/has a charmingly Lynchian feel or whatever. (And it's always a plus if you feel like you could get stabbed at any moment)

That quote goes quite well with your new clown-type avatar.

There's a place around here that has a patio right on a beach that is just the absolute chillest spot around sunset. And the bartender chicks have big boobies.

Sounds perfect. Do they allow dogs on the patio? I remember the few beach bars I've gone to usually allowed them. (In St. Croix ALL the bars had lots of critters running around-- bar cats, crabs, stray dogs, everything basically)

No idea. Didn't even know there were bars that were pet friendly.
