Name a Movie Rate a Movie
One person states a movie, and the next person rates it (and can even give a mini-review if they want). And then that person states another movie.
OK, I go first. Forrest Gump. |
7.5/10
What i really like about Forrest gump is that the despite the fact he accomplished so many things he never turned into an assh*le. Tom hanks did but Forrest didn't. Super troopers. |

This movie gets a couple points for what went into making it since it was such a grassroots indie movie. But I don't think I laughed even once while watching it. North By Northwest |
North by Northwest is pretty great, but there's some more slow burning bits of the film that don't quite deliver. Still, an 8/10.
Oldboy |
Not half as good as Sympathy for Mr Vengeance and I Saw the Devil, but still pretty damn good. 7/10.
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas |
We all know that Thirst is his best one anyway.
It was because of Fear & Loathing that I started carrying around a briefcase where I'd stash my drugs and CDs in high school, and it sparked my journalistic pursuits. Depp does a pretty great Thompson, although I think that Bill Murray did it better in Where the Buffalo Roam. 10/10 easily. My Left Foot |

Also, Depp > Murray. Fear and Loathing is Depp's best performance imo. Daniel Day Lewis is hard to go wrong with. An easy 8/10. La Haine |
(Haven't seen La Haine). I think Depp's performance is better in terms of acting and being entertaining, yes, but as far as being true to Thompson, Bill Murray takes the cake. Depp took a lot of liberties with his personality and mannerisms imo, but I agree that it's his best performance.
|
Haven't seen La haine either.

Well, somebody watch La Haine! Or, in the event that the thread goes 24 hours without an answer, another user can pick a movie. How's that?
|
Well, no one's gone. I guess I'll state a new movie.
Shawshank Redemption. |

American History X |
You all suck. La Haine is top ten films ever. Watch it.
Edit: Also, I don't love The Shawshank Redemption. Incredibly overrated imo. |

Ugh... OK, let's just go for more common movies.
Blade Runner. |
8/10
Rad flick. I felt like the ending scenes were a little rushed though. The Country Bears |
Been more than 24 hours, I'll handle this.
The Babadook |
One of the best horror movies in recent memory, imo. 9/10
It Follows |

The Lobster |
Love love loved it. The first half was a little bit stronger than the second, but John C. Reilly and Colin Farrell both killed it, and the writing was excellent. 8/10
Ex Machina |

I can't say that about a movie I've never seen.
|
Rate Ex machina you jerks.

That's not what my post allowed me to do.

You need one character. Just use a period.

I just wonder why it did it in the first place.
Anyway,. Ex Machina is next, just so we don't get off-topic. |
I've probably heard of .10% of the movies you guys talk about in this thread. They're should be a rule against obscurity.

'71. Personally, I give it a 10/10
|
8/10, Jack O'Connell is one of the best up and coming actors out there.
Something a little less "obscure" since Ki demanded it. Fight Club |
