They're not being aggressive. If they were, trust me, you would know. This is an ordinary day on Music Banter, even a quiet one.

Is the label truly so repugnant that you had to write an entire essay about why it does not suit you? An honest question.

I don't give a sh*t people call me a hipster. Hell, I have some hipster qualities. I just don't understand why these qualities are connected with the term now. It seems like everything is hipster presently. Pretty soon, going to the gym is going to be hipster.

Also, if you felt I wrote an essay about it, you should read more. That wasn't an endurance test.

Especially his treatise on The Shining

noun, Rhetoric

obvious and intentional exaggeration.
2.
an extravagant statement or figure of speech not intended to be taken literally, as “to wait an eternity.”.

That would have worked better had you defined "Essay". I'm not sure what point you describing rhetoric serves...

nah it's not

Hey **** off! This is MY island! You can't set up shop here! And watch out for my bubble --- OH YOU BASTARD!!!!! :yikes:

That's not fair.

It's fair. Just be yourself.

If you like popular things than participate in them but don't do it because it's popular. If you go out of your way to be original just to stand out you're probably a 15 year old emo kid.

I'd like to point out that neither Frown, nor Exo are in fact, actual hipsters. I need to make that clear before I say this:

At the Rush concert I attended last month, I had been seated next to 2 actual hipsters. I mean flaming hipster culture permeated the air around these two. Beards, glasses, scarves, and plaid shirt level hipsters. The one seated 2 chairs to my right asked me 'why I wasn't standing' at one point after I had gone to grab one of the biggest corned beef sandwiches on the planet, and I needed have a seat for a second. I replied "I'm old", as he said "No you're not, I'm older than you!", to which I replied that I was in fact 48. He then gave me a sideways look and went about his business. The one seated to my immediate right would not stop bumping into me. This was a big problem. I tried "The Look", but that didn't phase this little ****er, so I squared up to him and said "Look, if you don't stop bumping into me, we're gonna have a big problem. Do you want a big problem?", to which he turned a few shades paler than he already was, and kind of scooted to his immediate right about a foot or two. This was my first Rush concert, and I've been a fan since the 70's, so I wasn't gonna let these two privileged *******s ruin it for me. I had a smile from ear to ear for the rest of the night.

And now I have a new acronym...

HILP

Ive never seen Exo act like a Hipster around here, i don't know him well but to me he always seemed like a smart dude who's really into movies.

Frown on the other hand is more than happy to point out he listens to better bands that you. despite not knowing if he is a hipster irl around here he does act like a hipster sometimes.

Plus, he totally looks like a hipster with his beard and glasses.

I don't think I've ever seen Frownie seriously putting down or looking down on someones tastes for being too mainstream, though.
He sometimes goes after people whom he considers close-minded, but that's a different thing.

It's not actually, because it seems what Frown considers close-minded is when you're too, in his view, mainstream. I mean, look at what he says about me, even though I go out of my way to try to be open to all the new music being sent my way, I'm still close-minded as far as he's concerned. So you can defend him if you want, but don't separate out the two things, cos as far as I can see, in his mind, they're the same.

Also, you're close-minded if you don't like his music, apparently.

Nah, what someone listens to doesn't matter, it's the way they receive other things. Popularity means nothing to me tbh, I love some pretty mainstream stuff. I don't think you're close minded, either. Sometimes you're a little quick to judge something on a criteria that isn't appropriate for some albums, but we all do that.

So how did you like Office Space?

tsk tsk taking me seriously again I see.

He's never seriously come down on me for my love of Manowar or Britney Spears. He's mocked me for it, but only to be a dick, never to actually criticize. Seriously, though. He should quit making music. WISSK is objectively bad and doesn't even qualify as art, let alone music.
