Save ten musicians!
Ok, this is how it's gonna go down. The Earth is doomed and the arks are being filled. There's one with all the scientists, teachers, philosophers and basically those with the brain power we'll need in the new world we colonise. The second ark has the builders: the engineers, terraformers, architechts, those who will create our new home.
Then there's the ark with the artists. The poets, the writers, the musicians. And here's where we come in. There is limited space and so everyone on Earth has been given the chance to vote for the artistes they wish to go on the ark. Everyone has ten choices --- that can be ten individuals, ten bands or any mixture of the two, once it only totals ten. Obviously, it can only apply to those living. So who would you choose to entertain humanity as we ply the deep dark gulf between the stars on our way to our new home? Try not to just choose your favourites: think of the sort of music that would appeal to a broad enough base, and keep everyone entertained and sane. So, who would you pick? Or perhaps more importantly, who would you not pick, and leave behind to perish with our home planet? ;) |
I wouldn't save anyone I know in particular. I would save 10 amazing musicians that can teach music.
1) Pianist 2) Guitarist 3) Drummer 4) DJ/Producer/Sound Engineer 5) Rapper (for me) 6) Vocalist Not sure how I would decide on the last 4. |
Off the top of my head:
Fred Frith Tatsuya Yoshida Massimo Pupillo John Zorn Colin Stetson Mats Gustafsson Keiji Haino Marc Ribot Phil Minton Peter Evans Although some of them are quite old, younger ones would be more practial. |
