Album Art Game

Couldn't be easier. Post an album cover with any helpful wording blocked out. Try not to make them too easy, but not too obscure either. Whoever guesses it right first posts theirs, and so on.

Looks like a dreary day in Dublin.

Oriphiel 05-03-2015 09:47 AM

Deacon Blue? Trollheart, I didn't know you dug the Scottish sound. :thumb:

Unknown Soldier 05-03-2015 09:51 AM

Or perhaps it looks like dreary Glasgow.

You're supposed to put an album now.

Oriphiel 05-03-2015 09:57 AM

Sure! Here's an easy one from the 1980s:

Well, technically you should say the album name, but I assume you know the one (Raintown). Just for the future though. And yes I am a fan of Deacon Blue indeed. Great album that: I reviewed it some time ago.

Trollheart 05-03-2015 05:23 PM

Probably want to give this a limit, or it'll just die. May do so anyway; but let's say 24 hours from when the album art is posted, if it hasn't been guessed then reveal it and it's your go again till someone gets it. Sound fair?

Frownland 05-03-2015 05:37 PM

I'm pretty sure that's The Bangles on the album cover but I don't know which album it is.

Oriphiel 05-03-2015 05:43 PM

Yup! I suppose it's kind of misleading, since it's a 12" EP rather than a full LP. Anyway, you can go if you want to.

Trollheart 05-03-2015 05:45 PM

Yeah, let's stick to albums. And again, to guess it right you're gonna need the album name as well.

Ok, Frownland, go with one nobody other than you will ever get!

Oriphiel 05-03-2015 05:52 PM

Captain Beefheart - Safe as Milk!

Oh wait... he hasn't posted the clues yet.

He didnt have to. But it's probably gonna be TMR, just to give me nightmares before I head to bed...

^ That's a shite blackout job. I can still see the first and last letter, and it looks like a flying turd.

Frownland 05-03-2015 06:05 PM

It's not even the full name of the album or artist anyway. You don't know it right off? Come on this one's easy. One of the best records of 2012.

Ninetales 05-03-2015 09:08 PM

well you know I know this one.

No Youth by Wreck and Reference. very good album indeed.

donno how hard this one is, but ive talked about these guys and this album enough it shouldn't be too bad

YorkeDaddy 05-03-2015 09:19 PM

you guys think youre cool or something

Frownland 05-03-2015 09:21 PM

Well if you don't know the one I just posted I can assure that you're not very cool.

Overcast 05-03-2015 10:12 PM

Goodluck solving this mystery of epic proportions, you're gonna need it.

http://puu.sh/hAIWy/c9f18fc495.jpg

This is gonna be the easiest thing you ever solved, however.

Frownland 05-03-2015 10:24 PM

^You have to guess the current one correctly before you post your own mate.

No it isn't. There's a 24-hour limit. If the album cover is not guessed by then, the poster gives the answer and we move on to the next. Posting more than one at a time is going to just confuse everyone. Also, I asked for not too obvious covers Overcast: even I know that one!

Frown/Nine: I will make an exception here. If you two intend to sort of carry this on between the two of you (I don't mind if you do but it will cut everyone else out) you can do that but in that case we'll move on with a, shall we say, non-Frownland cover too for those who are not quite as cool as you two. Fair?

In which case (assuming the above is true), Nirvana's Nevermind and it's my turn again.

Edit: Also, post only one cover at a time, one per post.

Not too hard but ...

Rush - A Farewell To Kings

Also, just a note: right click: search Google for this image could really kill this idea.

I did it on all of the ones leading up to Rush. Didn't have to on that one. I'd marry Al if he asked me to.

Frownland 05-04-2015 09:34 AM

It was The Alchemist by John Zorn you losers. Go listen to it, it's the best classical record of the 21st century.

I knew that.

Trollheart 05-04-2015 10:17 AM

OK then Plankton: you're next.
Make it a good one. And no "Krill", yeah? ;)

Edit: well that's a disappointment about the search. Didn't know about that function. Still, if you're gonna cheat why bother playing eh?

Godsmack - Awake

Used to listen to that **** nonstop when I was a kid.

YorkeDaddy 05-04-2015 10:28 AM

This should be called "Reverse Image Search - The Game"

I put it on the other day, still holds up. Solid songs on that.

The Batlord 05-04-2015 12:35 PM

I only ever heard their singles, but they were always solid as far as early '00s radio rock went. "Voodoo", "I'm Alive", and "Moon Baby" were always a welcome break from Creed and Linkin Park. Never listened to a full album though. Guess I'll have to give one a shot at some point.

Frownland 05-04-2015 12:37 PM

Oh ****, that's not Awake it's the s/t. My bad.

The first one pretty much solidifies their sound, and the one's after are just variants of the same. Listen to the first one. First.
