^ Clever!
Norway is notorious for its depressing winters, Taxman, and although it`s not in the same sub-zero league, London is pretty grim too, to be honest. This is how a London winter used to work out for me: Go to work in the dark; sun comes out for a few hours while you`re working; go home in the dark. Snow and ice means waiting twice as long as usual for public transport to show up, and there is no way to get colder quicker than standing on a windy platform. Unwittingly you hunch up to conserve your dwindling body heat for half an hour or so and end up with muscle pain across your shoulders. And when you make it home, it`s too expensive to heat properly, so you spend the winter wearing an uncomfortable quantity of clothes as you scurry from one little island of warmth to another- the bed, the radiator, the kettle then back again - and if you complain about these circumstances, the previous generation will tell you how lucky you are because nobody these days gets the chilblanes that they used to suffer from. So, in short, put me down as a summer guy!

Our winters aren't all that cold except for in the northern half of the country, I think. They're mostly... inconsistent. I think the "cold winters" thing is mostly a reputation, but I haven't been in too many countries at winter.

I got a new one.
Do you prefer the Star Wars Movies or the Lord of the Rings movies? And this is just about the movies, so ignore everything else outside of them. (NOTE: because I can not get a consistent answer from people I've asked as to whether the Hobbit may or may not be included in "the Lord of the Rings movies," we will not be including the split Hobbit movies in this discussion, so leave them out of your decision.) I am a huge a sci-fi/supernatural-themed nerd, and I have always been more attracted to science fiction than fantasy. BUT, I am also a huge fan of large scale epic battles like those in the Lord of the Rings movies, so this is a tough choice for me...but I choose Star Wars. John Williams and lightsabers tip the scale for me. |

Oh DJ. It's not healthy if you don't go out in the sun sometimes, you need vitamin D. You could take supplements though.

Also Star Wars vs. Lotr? I have to go with the space opera. I am more of a sci-fi fan plus I have yet to finish Return of the King. Can't be arsed.

Anyone who has been stuck in the never ending polar vortex that has been ****ting all over the U.S. for months should agree that SUMMER IS INFINITELY BETTER. 90+ temperatures suck but that is nothing compared to the frozen wasteland that has become of the Midwest. I now have intense feelings of empathy for those living in places that are perpetually cold.
Also, Star Wars. |
