Doesn't really matter, though we'd probably call that more a forest than a park! The point is, would you rather spend your free time surrounded by trees and grass (not the smokable kind!) and maybe a little stream or waterfall, birds and rabbits etc OR sand, pebbles, ocean, ice cream kiosks, surfboards for you Americans, and all that?

Personally I've always been a parks guy. I like green. Not to eat though. I much prefer trees and grass and rocks and little lakes and streams. Find beaches too crowded, sand too hot, can't swim and not really into paddling so the beach to me is a place I would not go out of choice. Parks all the way for me.

That picture is Yosemite National Park if you're curious.

Well, if we're talking about parks that aren't of the Yosemite variety, I think I'll have to go with beaches. I'm not really the kind of person who is into lying on the beach and whatnot, but there's something about looking out at the vastness of the ocean that can be such a powerful experience.

I agree. I remember the first time I was in California, I was 7 years old, and my parents took me down to Manhattan Beach early one morning. I remember standing on the beach with my dad, holding his hand, and we had our feet in the water as we stared out into the Pacific. My mom stood behind us and snapped a picture. As a 7 year old kid who had never seen the ocean before that moment, it was definitely the highlight of my summer. I think back on it now and remember it as a moving experience.

Parks!

Screw sand and it getting everywhere and into all nooks and crannies. Sand is worse than glitter for trying to get rid of it. The only slight bonus of the beach is seeing bikini bodies but other than that. Not worth it. I am so picky about the beaches I go to. The water has to have a certain look.

This has been my wallpaper for a few years now. I'm still trying to get to this place, and I don't even know where it is... but I'll get there... someday.

So, yeah. Beach, beaches.
