Another Alan Moore venture I'd recommend taking is his run at the British Superman/ Captain Marvel knock off Marvelman, or Miracleman if your country is fat. It's pretty much ground zero for his ideas found in later comics like Watchmen.

His run on Swamp Thing was really good as well.

It's really worth your while. The whole thing in collected into 5 or 6 volumes.
