It was a case 6 years ago involving a
3 year old girl, the accepted explanation that the British media have gone with, is that Kate & Gerry went to get pissed at a Tapas restaurant while leaving three kids (oldest was Maddie aged 3) alone for the night in the apartment (checking on them every half an hour), where she was 'abducted'. Been in the news pretty much constantly since then, appeals, efits etc, despite there being not a scrap of evidence pointing to an abduction, no forced entry, hair fibres, prints... nothing.
People tend to have their minds made up about it, did the parents do it or not. Personally I think Maddie died in the apartment and the parents panicked and it's snowballed into this.
