Considering I just had my third Xbox 360 die on me in a little over 4 years. I'm going to say go for the PS3. I hear their failure rate isn't quite as high as the 360's, however if you do decide to go 360 then get their new slim line version.
PS3 has more exclusive titles and you do get the satisfaction of using it as a blu-ray player (although I heard it's bad for it because the laser's activated all the time rather than in gaming when it's just activated to load up incoming content. |

The differences between PS3s and 360s are very little. If you're planning on playing online with friends a lot then i suggest just getting the one which most of your friends have. This was the main reason i got a PS3 over a 360.
