Default Single-Disk White Album

Okay, so here's the situation:

You are George Martin. Capitol records tells you that they will, under no circumstances, release a double-album record by The Beatles due to reasons that they choose to not disclose. They tell you that the track count cannot exceed 16 songs but must contain more than 14 (this fills the Beatles' normal song-count per album requisite). They also tell you that in the end, it is your decision to choose which songs make the cut. So, the big question:

1) What songs to do you pick?
and
2) What order to you put them in (keep in mind musical flow, juxtaposition, side openers, etc.)

Easy game, White Album is amazingly bloated.

The order is fine:

1. Back in the U.S.S.R.
2. Glass Onion
3. While My Guitar Gently Weeps
4. Happiness Is a Warm Gun
5. Piggies
6. Rocky Raccoon
7. Why Don't We Do It in the Road?
8. Yer Blues
9. Helter Skelter
10. Revolution 1

Ok, now here's the filler:

11. Savoy Truffle
12. I'm So Tired
13. The Continuing Story of Bungalow Bill
14. Dear Prudence

*high fives self for being able to eliminate most the McCartney old lady love songs*

How'd you miss the best song on the album, Mother Nature's Son?

This is really easy, just make it a 7" and put "Happiness Is a Warm Gun" on both sides.

Oh come on... at least put Helter Skelter on as a b-side.

I wasn't really getting where you were coming from with this until I read your little manifesto on the main page for your so-called "weirdo art band". It all makes sense now :P

Honestly, it's a bloated album. They're just throwing everything at the wall. Glad this game was brought up because the fat definitely needs trimming.

As for my manifesto, I don't know if it applies as well in Beatles times, or not. But it definitely is how I feel of the exaggeration of their image since.

I'll do my list soon, but first someone must tell me why in the world Piggies would be allowed on any album again.

1.) Back in the USSR
2.) Dear Prudence
3.) Glass Onion
4.) Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da
5.) The Continuing Story of Bungalow Bill
6.) While My Guitar Gently Weeps
7.) Happiness Is a Warm Gun
8.) I'm So Tired
9.) Blackbird
10.) Rocky Raccoon
11.) Why Don't We Do It In the Road?
12.) Yer Blues
13.) Helter Skelter
14.) Revolution 1
15.) Savoy Truffle
16.) Good Night

Then again, I'm not as vehemently opposed to Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da as most people I've met. There's something delightful about it, in my opinion. If I did omit it, however, I'd probably stick Julia in there.

I cba to try to figure the precise order right now; suffice it to say, I'd leave the opener and closer intact.
