Well you can never tell what's going to happen in the future...
Maybe Microsoft starts behaving all apple-like too...

I'm thinking of doing a dual-boot with another drive to hold XP 32 bit, but I'll wait and see if Win7 64 has any issues with XP era stuff I still use.
Allright, I'm a regular visitor of oldversion.com as I like to keep the software I'm used to. So I'm always sceptic about new Windows versions and I've only been using Windows 7 for a year now. I am using all kinds of windowses througout my house so I think I have a pretty clear view on the differences.
Here's the question you could have expected: Why exactly would you want to keep using Windows XP?
I'm guessing soundcards. These are always an issue.
It took me some time to get my ESI juli@ to work with Adobe Audition. I was still using Cool Edit Pro 2.1 with Windows XP and 7 didn't want to work properly with CEP. So my avpc is now dualboot too, but I'm never ever using Windows XP anymore. Everything works just fine with windows 7 but yes, you will probably have to use newer versions of the programs you are using now. I had that problem back in the days when Windows XP hit the market. I had a PInnacleDC30. Good luck getting that to work With XP. Have been running Windows '98 until may 2003

As far as PC is concerned, 64 bit is already mainstream and everything is going to eventually go that way, with programs being written for 64 bit architecture, and I want to be able to take advantage of that.
I'm the kind of guy that really likes to stay reasonably on top of technology, because most of what I do, and even my career, requires it.
Glad I went PC all those years ago.
When you want the freedom of choice, it's a wise thing you've chosen the PC.
I was an MSX guy back then by the way. Only bought my first new PC in 1997

Unbelievable! They only have the regular looking mall stores here.

Same story here. It would be a marvel to see that in person. I probably will eventually, since NYC is such a nice place to visit. It's pretty much the opposite of where I live, so it's a nice change.

I've never liked using Firefox on a mac by the way, always a bit sluggish compared to Chrome and especially Safari. But should you want to use the latest firefox (4) you will have to use Mac OS 10.5 and 10.6.
I don't find Firefox to be sluggish but I do find it to be ugly. I use it for work since it has better developer tools, but I tend to use Safari off the clock (I'm on it right now) because dropdowns and buttons and whatnot look better in it. Chrome has never really clicked with me for whatever reason. I mean I like it, but just find I almost never think to launch it unless I'm doing cross-browser testing.

I don't find Firefox slow on the Mac either. Safari is okay too, but I actually do prefer to use Firefox. I don't know why. I do agree that Safari is more esthetically pleasing though. I also had Chrome for a bit on my Windows laptop, but I didn't find it to be any better than Firefox.

Right now, on my Windows computer, I have Firefox (which I'm on right now), and of course IE, or Internet Destroyer as I like to call it sometimes

To be fair, even though I certainly don't mind knocking IE, IE9 seems like it's actually pretty good. And they only had to completely rip off Chrome to get it that way.

Well, I mean, it's like... how different can the browsers be from each other? Not a lot of wiggle room really...

Firefox 4 is a similar layout to Chrome too, I think, with the default absence of the menu bar at the top. Also with the smaller tabs right at the top of the screen.
