I think it's interesting how Jobs has never publicly donated a cent of his 8 billion dollar fortune.

The Mystery of Steve Jobs's Public Giving - NYTimes.com

I mean, it's entirely possible he's been privately giving his wealth away en masse, or he made plans for after his death, but until evidence is seen, it's kind of crummy that such a rich man horded all his wealth until the very end

Maybe he didn't want credit for his donations so he didn't announce it to the world? I think it's kind of poor taste to be bringing that up now.

Oh and not sure if this is true yet or not, but R.I.P. Ja Rule?

Which is why I said "Publicly", and pointed out that there's a possibility he might have done tons of private donating. Did you even read past the first couple words?

Why? Did anyone here know Jobs personally? Should they be offended if I point out the glaring lack of (public) philanthropy from a mega-wealthy individual? When would be an appropriate time to bring it up?

Also, not in response to Tuna but still related;

Jobs had terminated all of Apple's long-standing corporate philanthropy programs within weeks after returning to Apple in 1997, citing the need to cut costs until profitability rebounded. But the programs have never been restored.

Quit looking for an argument just for the sake of it, your intentions are pathetically obvious. I bet you were just itching for someone to respond the way I did so you could fire away about something you're (for some reason) very passionate about.

I don't care, I still think it's sad to see someone die at 56.

Seriously, what is your problem? This is not the first time you've resorted to inane personal attacks.

This is a discussion forum where people discuss things. I'm not challenging anyone's right to grieve, nor am I attempting to diminish Jobs' great strides in the business and technology worlds; I'm simply (politely and rather unbiased-ly) bringing up a topic of discussion.

No problem, I just have no interest in discussing it and I'm surprised that you're surprised someone would find your post and it's timing kind of rude.

Maybe I'm wrong,, but post dissection to me screams looking for a debate.

I agree.

There's nothing wrong with discussing his philanthropy, but it seems an unfitting time to do so right now.

I'm not sure anybody should be accusing someone of insensitivity in a thread titled "Celebrity Death Bingo". Jussayin'.
