It made ****ty pop stars who can sing have the illusion that they're protesting the less 'legitimate' ****ty pop stars?
Honestly, I don't get why people gripe so much about autotune. Nobody legitimate uses it, and nobody legitimate wants to. If you ask me, basing your song of a non-changing incredibly simplistic metronomic drum machine pattern is equally as fake, and annoying. Which is something a large portion of the genre has inherited as a requirement for structure. I see autotune of having 0% impact on the industry at all. The same ****ty pop songs were just as annoying before becoming 'pitch accurate'. Nothing has changed.

Can't see politics being the winner here, that requires too much thinking for some artists. Any bimbo can write a song about sex, on the other hand, and it's been a bigger part of music longer then drugs has.
Money's just the compensation you get for making the music. Unless we're talking about rap, of course. |

I disagree. Many artists who I used to think were respectable have started to use pitch correction on their vocals as a means to "perfect" them. Look at bands like Dream Theater, The Sleeping and even Axl Rose, all of whom have resorted to mild forms of pitch correction on their most recent records to keep up with modern vocal perfection standards. It might not be the hip-hop auto-tune that you're used to thinking about, but it's still a form of "auto-tune".

The basis of Rock n Roll is Sex.The other seeds that spawned Rock n Roll didn't contain that "element",it is the seekwit weapon.
Drugs/money could never have created or stopped the tidal wave of creativity that was produced in the '50's by the originals. The whole genre was sexually based. Lock up yer daughters the rock n roll miscreants have arrived in the drive-in movies!! Elvis Murphy |

When I voted drugs I voted on what effected the music itself, ie making it better. I don't know of many people that wrote a song that would be sh!tty in the first place but was made better by getting paid, getting laid, or jumping atop of a soapbox. But a lot of great music was developed under the influence of drugs, so that is where I cast my vote.
