Brit Pop was steeped in British culture, if you're American you might not necessarily 'get it'.

Take The Stone Roses for example, Second Coming was more popular in America. It had more of a roots-rock sound to it.

That's just stupid. Are there any opposite examples*

*say Springsteen and I'll cut you. He sucks because he sucks, not because he's American.

Springsteen.

It's true though, to an extent.
Brit Pop was British culture in the 90s, so Americans might not totally get it.
Hence why the whole movement never really caught on over there.
Grunge didn't catch on AS MUCH over here as well. Though I do admit it was popular, but not as popular as it was in America.
I have an example, Nirvana - Nevermind.
UK album charts - 7th.
US - 1st.

But I still like Grunge. I'm sure many Americans can enjoy MLIR. And lots of people enjoy foreign language music too.

I'm just speaking in general, Nirvana were one of my favourite bands but the whole Grunge thing was a bit lost on me.
Brit Pop was lost on a lot of Americans.
I think a lot of Americans would prefer 13 to MLIR, especially as a starting out album...
