On topic, No I don't think women can be funny. When they try it's always talking about men and how bad they are. I think women comics can only really relate to other women. Where as good male comics can appeal to both genders. The only female comics I've ever thought to be remotely funny have been pretty butch anyway.

That thread is just infuriating.
It's not about "how many female comedians there is", it's about a whole gender being called unfunny. And to me, a person with no sense of humour is just an animal.

So if you can please stop this machismo act for now, and stop acting as if you are on the side of women here. It's just condescending and annoying.

Bill Hicks is so superior to Carlin it's ridiculous and ironically Tuna's counterexample simply proved it.

Observations more than anything. But thanks.

George Carlin and Bill Hicks are on the same level IMO, however, Carlin had a much longer and more prestigious career. Unfortunately, we will never know if Hicks could have sustained his level of performance over the same amount of time. Has to be Carlin by a nose.

Hicks gets angry it's funny because of how ridiculously full of energy he is.

Carlin is great but the biggest flaw concerning his later work is that he spent more time simply giving his opinions on things without bothering to supplement much actual humor to go along with it. And since I disagree with him on several things that can be a problem.
