I don't mind American stand up. I find a lot of it quite funny.
American sitcoms I find terrible. It's almost like they're written by committee to appeal to as many different demographics as possible. I couldn't imagine anything like Peep Show or Nathan Barley ever being tried on US TV.

I think the funniest American sitcom was Seinfeld. It was pretty risky for the times and it's still funny. I'm not very big into sitcoms so I can't tell you much else. I actually get Peep Show on my Channel 4 affiliate here. It's pretty funny. It's a little annoying how much praise The IT Crowd gets over here, though, seems to be turning into a hip thing to watch it.
