Well, this is a National League. I play in two local leagues, but the organization is in something like 38 states. (I've never actually counted). Since we're now adults playing, we've adapted some of the rules to make it more competitive.
* Strike Zone is now a foot in either directions of the plate and a foot high.
This allows for pitchers to have "strikes" come in from the outter zones, hops, bounces, and spins. It means that pitchers aren't a dead position, but it also cuts the wheat from the chaff with regard to batters.
*Foul Outs
4 fouls and you're out, we've got work to do here.
*Drinking
As an adult, we do slightly more drinking than we did in our playground days. But since the league, parents on the adjacent playground, and roving city cops all have issue with this, the other fun function is getting away with it. Some folks cheap out and go Vodka in a Nalgene, but the real artists go for sangria in a Gatorade bottle.
*Clean-up rules
No leading, no double touch when kicking, only kicking from inside the Box (you can't charge the pitch), infield fly rule not in effect (I think this is an oversight), and bee-stinging is still allowed.*
*a hit in the face =/= out though we sometimes take the advanced runner just to smash someone in the face. Keep in mind we're drunk so its less painful, and way more funny than it sounds.
